Updated Guide On How To Get A Driver’s License, LTO Requirements and Qualifications

Driving is a good feeling most likely if you have your own vehicle, but driving a vehicle need to have a driver’s license, to own a driver’s license the first step you need to get aStudent Permitand to do that you’ll need to know what LTO Student License requirements are.

LTO Student Permitis the first license that the LTO will give you this will practice driving and eventually you can apply for aprofessional driver’s license.

QUALIFICATIONS for Student License

Must be at least 17 years old

Must be physically and mentally fit to operate a motor vehicle

Must be literate in either Filipino or English

REQUIREMENTS you need for a Student Permit license application

Filled out driver’s license application form (ADL)

If employed: Taxpayer’s identification number (TIN)

Birth Certificate (Original and photocopy)

Note:

If a birth certificate is unavailable, any of the two will meet the requirement:

Joint affidavit of two disinterested persons who know the applicant and who can attest to his/her age and identity accompanied by non-availability of record from NSO or local civil registry office.

Any legal document to prove his age and identity (e.g. GSIS, SSS, Passport or any government issued ID)

Applicants below 18 years old need a parent’s or guardian’s written consent with a photocopy of an ID card as proof of identity. The written consent must be notarized if the parent or guardian is not available.

STEPS and PROCEDURES to obtain a Student license

Go to the nearest LTO licensing center, proceed to the customer service counter and secure a driver’s license application form. You have also an option to download the ADL form here and have it filled out before transacting to any LTO office.

Get a checklist of requirements and a queue number from LTO customer service counter and wait for your number to be called.

Once your number is called, go to the evaluator counter to pass all the required documents to have it checked for completeness and validity.

When your name is called, you can proceed to take your photo and signature for your License ID.

After that proceed to the cashier and pay the necessary fees to obtain an official receipt (OR)

In releasing counter you must present the OR to claim your student driver’s permit.

NOTE:

Your LTO Student Permit has a one year validity period this period allows you to practice and be prepared for the LTO driving test. If you fail the test once or twice you are not allowed to apply within the current year, if you fail on the third time you are not allowed to apply for the period of 2 years.
